1975, Lethbridge Alberta. When the Monoghan sisters lose their parents in a car accident, Deirdre remains as the sole caregiver to her adopted older sister, Isabelle, who was born with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Deirdre is barely staying afloat under the strain of this reality when hope arrives in the form of gorgeous vacuum cleaner salesman Freddie Seven Horses. Both sisters find in Freddie a new world of unexplored emotions and ideas, where Freddie is a port in a storm.

Tara Beagan is a Nlakaʼpamux playwright and actress from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, most noted as the winner of the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre in 2020. Wikipedia

About the Moderator

Rev. Dr. Webster is a music/theatre artist raised in Batesville, ARK. She completed a Doctor of Theology at Jacksonville Theological Seminary, a PhD from The University of Iowa, Master of Science from Mankato State U, and BA from Drake University. She is an ordained African Methodist Episcopal Elder. She has directed Christian plays at the following AME Churches: St. Andrew, Mt. Zion, Greer Chapel and Wilson Chapel. She directed children’s theatre for three seasons at HATTILOO, where she most recently played Ouiser in“Steel Magnolias”, and Aunt Duke in “Mahalia”. She has appeared in several productions for Playhouse on the Square, Bluff City Theatre, New Moon, and Opera Memphis. She has served both as the artistic director and as the stage manager of “The Juneteenth Story” at The Canon Center.

Participation is free of charge. Those interested in participating may either rent their scripts from Theatre Memphis with a $10 refundable deposit or purchase each play independently. Participants can register for as few or as many discussions as they are interested in. To join the group, please register below.

Lohrey Theatre

Seats up to 411

Both the Lohrey Theatre and the Next Stage Theatre are wheelchair accessible with a handicapped accessible restroom on the same level as the main lobby to both venues. The Lohrey Theatre also provides hearing assisted equipment to any who may require or request it, at no charge.
